WATCH Orlando Magic Jalen Suggs Ejected After Scuffle With 76ers

Orlando Magic guard Jalen Suggs was ejected with 27 seconds left in the first half of Tuesday night’s game against the Philadelphia 76ers after receiving two technicals during a heated altercation between the teams.

Magic’s Jalen Suggs Defended Teammate

Philadelphia’s Andre Drummond pulled on the jersey of Orlando’s Wendell Carter Jr., leading to multiple players shoving one another near the Magic’s free throw line.

However, no punches were thrown between the two teams.

Suggs came in and shoved Drummond. Philadelphia’s Jabari Walker attempted to separate the players, and Suggs then decided to take aim at Walker, leading to more pushing and shoving.

Drummond, Carter, Walker and Orlando’s Desmond Bane were each assessed one technical foul, while Suggs received two.

According to ESPN’s report, Suggs said during his postgame interview that he intervened because he took issue with Drummond squaring up with Carter. He said he had no regrets and would do it again “10 times out of 10.”

“In my opinion, squaring up is a little too crazy, so that was that in the moments that preceded,” Suggs said. “They were what they were. I don’t regret it. I’ll stick up for my brother every time. I’ll take the fine. Don’t think I should’ve gotten ejected, but I’ll take it. I’m not gonna argue with their call, so we move on. I don’t have no hard feelings toward nobody.”

Orlando Remains Undefeated In NBA Cup

Orlando’s Anthony Black scored 27 of his career-high 31 points in the first half, Franz Wagner added 21 points, and the Magic routed the injury-depleted Sixers 144-103 in the NBA Cup matchup.

The game was tied at 35-all after the first quarter before the Magic took control in the second quarter, outscoring Philadelphia by 26 points in the period to take an 86-60 lead at the break.

Meanwhile, Tyrese Maxey led the 76ers with 20 points. Philadelphia played without Joel Embiid (right knee injury management), Paul George (right ankle sprain), and rookie VJ Edgecombe (left calf tightness).

Embiid missed his eighth game in a row and 11th this season.

Philadelphia’s Trendon Watford also limped to the bench with just over four minutes left in the first half and did not return due to a left adductor strain.

As for the Magic, Paolo Banchero was sidelined for his seventh consecutive contest with a left groin strain.

Orlando improved to 3-0 in NBA Cup play, while the 76ers dropped to 0-3.

The Magic visit the Detroit Pistons on Friday night.
