The last decade has been miserable to say the least for the Giants. New York has a winning record just twice in that span. Head coaches have come and gone, and the team has continuously found ways to lose.Â
After a 24-20 loss to the Bears in Week 10 of the 2025 season, the Giants parted ways with head coach Brian Daboll. The team was desperate to find a leader who could make the Giants relevant once again. After a loss to the Steelers in Week 18, the Ravens parted ways with head coach John Harbaugh. He immediately became New York’s top target. Recently, it was announced that Harbaugh accepted the offer and will be the Giants’ next head coach.
John Harbaugh brings stability the Giants haven’t seen in a long time

Following his firing by the Ravens after 18 years, John Harbaugh made it clear he wanted to continue to coach. The 63-year-old still has the drive and competitive spirit. Harbaugh immediately became the #1 target for most teams with a head-coaching vacancy. However, not every team had a shot. Atlanta, Tennessee, and New York were the finalists to land John Harbaugh. Despite the Falcons and Titans’ interest, the Giants were the only team to land an in-person interview.
John Harbaugh was picked up by Giants owner Steve Tisch’s private jet on Wednesday and was taken to the facility in East Rutherford. According to NFL insiders, Harbaugh had lengthy conversations with New York’s front office. Additionally, the Giants had QB Jaxson Dart meet with Harbaugh as well. Per Ian Rapoport, Harbaugh agreed to the deal on Wednesday afternoon, and the news was first reported late in the evening.

Since the Giants parted ways with Tom Coughlin after the 2015 season, the team has been searching for answers at head coach. Including interims, New York has had 10 head coaches since Coughlin was fired. When John Harbaugh was fired by the Ravens, the Giants went all-in to hire him. They landed Harbaugh, and he instantly brings a level of stability the team hasn’t seen in years.
In 18 seasons with the Ravens, John Harbaugh had a losing record just three times. Harbaugh knows what a winning locker room looks and feels like. The Giants’ front office hopes their new head coach can build an identity the team has been searching for. How quickly can John Harbaugh establish a culture inside the locker room and do his part to help fix the Giants? That will be a topic of discussion on sports talk shows all offseaosn.
