The North American tennis season is in full swing at the moment. Last week we had the Mubadala Citi Open in Washington, D.C. This week and next week we have the National Bank Open in Canada. That will be followed by tennis events in Cincinnati and Flushing Meadows.
When Marie Bouzkova of Prague, Czech Republic is in action, there is a strong possibility that hockey fans will see a familiar face in her box. That is because Bouzkova is currently dating Florida Panthers captain Aleksander Barkov of Tampere, Finland.
When did Bouzkova first start dating Barkov?
Being a member of the Panthers, Barkov attends the Miami Open on a regular basis. In 2023, Barkov was seen at Wimbledon watching Bouzkova play Caroline Garcia of France in the third round according to David Dwork of The Hockey News. Barkov and Bouzkova made their relationship public in 2024 according to The Times of India. Barkov is 29 years old, and Bouzkova is 27 years old. Even though Bouzkova is from Europe, she now calls Bradenton, Florida home.
Bouzkova has been Barkov’s lucky charm
In the last two years Barkov has won two Stanley Cups with the Florida Panthers. Florida has beaten the Edmonton Oilers in the finals both times. In 47 postseason games over the last two seasons, Barkov has 14 goals and 30 assists for 44 points. He is a +3 with 12 penalty minutes, 15 power-play points, two shorthanded points, four game-winning goals, 106 shots on goal, 488 faceoff wins, 49 blocked shots, 103 hits, 37 takeaways and 37 giveaways. In addition to winning the Stanley Cup, Barkov has won the Selke Trophy presented to the NHL’s top defensive forward.
Bouzkova’s tennis results
Bouzkova’s most notable grand slam result was reaching the Wimbledon quarterfinals in 2022. She reached the final eight of the women’s singles draw as an unseeded player before losing to the third seed and eventual finalist, Ons Jabeur of Tunisia, 3-6, 6-1, 6-1.
Bouzkova has won two singles tournaments on the WTA Tour, with both titles coming at the Prague Open. In 2022, Bouzkova had an exceptional final, as she dominated Russia’s Anastasia Potapova 6-0, 6-3. Then in 2025, Bouzkova beat Linda Noskova in an all Czech Final, 2-6, 6-1, 6-3.
Bouzkova has beaten 10 top-10 players in her career. She has been Garcia (twice), Americans Sloane Stephens, Danielle Collins, Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula, Romania’s Simone Halep, Ukraine’s Elina Svitolina, the Czech Republic’s Karolina Pliskova, Canada’s Bianca Andreescu and Belarus’s Aryna Sabalenka. This evening in Montreal, Bouzkova will not get the support of the hometown crowd as she will be facing Canadian Victoria Mboko in round three.
