The Patriots announced that Campbell will be placed on injured reserve due to a right knee injury.
By being placed on injured reserve, Campbell will miss at least the next four games:
- 12/1: vs. New York Giants
- 12/14: vs. Buffalo Bills
- 12/21: at Baltimore Ravens
- 12/28: New York Jets
The earliest Campbell could return is for Week 18’s game against the Miami Dolphins.
Campbell was carted off in the Patriots’ 26-20 win over the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday.
The Patriots elected Campbell with the No. 4 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Campbell has started every game at left tackle this season.
Campbell is expected to return at some point this year, whether in the regular season or the playoffs. Coach Mike Vrabel was asked about his message to Campbell after placing him on IR.
“Just keep him engaged,” Vrabel said on Wednesday via Patriots.com. “He comes into the meetings, stays engaged, works hard to get back and to recover quickly. And that’s all it can be. If you want to have a good, long NFL career, you’re going to have to battle through some of these things, and these things are going to come up. I would say that he’s already working hard, extremely hard to get back and being engaged in the meetings. So, that’s kind of what it will be for four weeks.”
Vederain Lowe is expected to start at left tackle for Campbell. Before serving as Campbell’s backup in 2025, Lowe started 13 games for the Patriots in 2024.

The Patriots have afforded themselves some leeway because of their 10-2 start.
New England is the No. 1 seed in the AFC right now. More importantly, the Patriots hold a two-game lead over the Buffalo Bills in the AFC East.
New England will also be without starting left guard Jared Wilson against the Giants, meaning the entire starting left side of the offensive line is out on Monday.
The Patriots’ offensive line will have its hands full on Monday night when they face Brian Burns, Abdul Carter, Dexter Lawrence, and the rest of the Giants’ offensive line.
There may be some growing pains in the first half. If there’s any coach who will figure out a solution to fix his line, it’s Vrabel.
