New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart was removed from Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears and was treated for a concussion. The game ended in a loss for New York, but the real concern lies in the health of their rookie signal caller, both short and long term.
Jaxson Dart Undergoes 4th Concussion Evaluation Since August
Dart has given Giants fans plenty of hope early in his career. He’s had big moments and big wins since taking over for Russell Wilson in Week 4, and even made his way to the top of the odds board for the Rookie of the Year award.
But with the injury he sustained on Sunday, Jaxson Dart has now been evaluated for a concussion four times since the start of August, including preseason.

Dart will now be forced to clear concussion protocol, putting his immediate status in serious doubt. The Giants are scheduled to take on the Green Bay Packers in Week 11, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see the first-year player miss at least a game or two.
Dart’s availability won’t be much of a factor in the short term. Due to key players missing time and general poor execution so far this season, the Giants are now sitting at 2-8 and well out of consideration for contention. There won’t be much of a need to rush their quarterback back into action over the next few weeks.
Giants May Be Forced To Change Dart’s Usage
But the long term lookout could be an issue. While he wasn’t diagnosed with a concussion each time, having to be evaluated on four occasions begins to raise some red flags. Dart has played a tough-nosed style in his rookie season, often taking unnecessary contact on QB scrambles.
I can’t believe Jaxson Dart may have a concussion. The Giants only run him every single play. What could possibly go wrong?

Being a dual threat is a massive part of his game, as he entered the contest against the Bears with over 250 rushing yards on the season. The concussion occurred on a designed quarterback run in which he took a big hit after gaining a first down with his legs, subsequently fumbling on the play.
Will the Giants be forced to change the way that they use Jaxson Dart? Concussions have become a serious issue in the NFL, one that teams and the league air on the side of caution with, and limiting Dart from taking contact could become a priority when he does return to the lineup.
