For those tennis fans who were concerned that they were seeing the last of Novak Djokovic on Wimbledon’s Centre Court on Friday, Djokovic has reassured them that is not the plan. He says he did not end his Wimbledon career with today’s semifinal loss.
“I’m not planning to finish my Wimbledon career today.” 🗣️

Djokovic lost in straight sets against World No. 1 Jannik Sinner. Wimbledon was widely viewed as Djokovic’s best opportunity to capture his 25th career Grand Slam. He played great in the early rounds. Slipping on match point against Flavio Cobolli was an unfortunate incident that may have hampered him in the Sinner match.
Novak Djokovic was brutally honest in his press conference about how his body is letting him down in the latter stages of Grand Slams in the past 18 months. Despite everything he does to keep himself in tip-top shape, his age is starting to be a factor.
However, he is not ready to announce any farewell tours or a retirement date. Truthfully, he probably does not know when that day is. Djokovic will rest his body before beginning to prepare for the 2025 US Open.
It is hard to overlook him in any Grand Slam draw, but in situations where he has to go through both Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz to win the title, it is becoming increasingly unlikely that he can pull it off. These two are young and at the top of their game and sport.
Like the rest of us, Djokovic is a spectator to another Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner Grand Slam final. It is hard to imagine the quality of the match being near the French Open instant classic, but we will have to wait and see on Sunday.
Watch the Wimbledon finals this weekend on ESPN. The women’s and men’s singles finals will begin at 11 AM EDT on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
