Wimbledon Day 5 saw more shakeups in the women’s singles draw. Three Grand Slam champions lost, and five remain in the draw going into the second half of the third round action on Saturday.
Madion Keys, Naomi Osaka, and Emma Raducanu Are Out
Madison Keys, Naomi Osaka, and Emma Raducanu lost on Friday. Raducanu played the best tennis of the three, pushing the World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka to the limit in two tight sets.

Emma Raducanu, the 2021 US Open champion, should be encouraged by her performance headed into the US Open hardcourt series.

Aryna Sabalenka is into the Round of 16
After missing last year’s Wimbledon with a shoulder injury, Aryna Sabalenka has booked her Round of 16 ticket against a familiar foe. Sabalenka’s former doubles partner Elise Mertens upset Elina Svitolina in straight sets and will play Sabalenka on Sunday. Mertens is 2-10 in singles against Sabalenka.

Barbora Krejcikova, Elena Rybakina, and Iga Swiatek play third round matches on Saturday
Defending champion Barbora Krejcikova is working her way through the draw in both singles and doubles. With partner Chan Hao-ching, Krejcikova defeated the Italian duo of Jasmine Paolini and Sara Errani in Friday’s second round. On Saturday, she faces Emma Navarro in the third round.
2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina faces Clara Tauson, and Iga Swiatek plays Danielle Collins.

WTA 1000 Champions Amanda Anisimova, Belinda Bencic, Danielle Collins, and Mirra Andreeva flying under the radar
Besides the four Grand Slam champions, there are four WTA 1000 champions who are quietly working their way through the draws and avoiding the upset bug. Amanda Anisimova is into the Round of 16. Belinda Bencic, Danielle Collins, and Mirra Andreeva play on Saturday to earn Round of 16 spots.
