NHL: Preseason-Winnipeg Jets at Calgary Flames

Few hockey fans could have predicted that the Winnipeg Jets would jump out to a 15-1 start through 16 games.

The Jets are the fastest team in NHL history to earn 15 wins.  Winnipeg sits alone on top of the Western division ahead of 10-2-3 Minnesota and 9-5 Dallas.

The team’s latest win occurred Tuesday night in New York defeating the Rangers 6-3.

How long can the Jets keep up this impressive level in all facets of the game?  No one knows, but the Jets keep their heads down and focus on one game at a time.

What The Winnipeg Jets Are Saying

Jets forward Kyle Connor, who scored two goals in the win over the Rangers, said: “We know what we are doing but we don’t take too much stock in it. We just move on to the next one. It speaks to the leadership to not get too comfortable. There’s still a lot of season left.”

The Jets opened the season winning eight straight.  The streak was broken on October 28 with a home loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs.  Since then, the team has reeled off another seven straight.

There is a lot of hockey yet to be played. However, the team is performing well, leading the NHL in all measurable areas beyond wins and losses, including Power Play, goals for, and goal differential.

What makes it more special is that it has been a total team effort.

Winnipeg Jets Next Game

The Jets will face the 7-6-1 Tampa Bay Lightning in Tampa on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at 7 PM EST.  The Lightning is in the midst of a four-game losing streak but has played its best hockey at home (4-1-1) so far this season.
