WNBA Predictions, Odds & Best Bets for July 8: Why the Sky Can Cover and Liberty Should Roll

Tuesday’s WNBA slate features a pair of intriguing matchups: Mystics vs. Sky in a morning matinee and Aces vs. Liberty in prime time. We break down both games, including odds, trends, and top bets, as well as why the Sky are worth backing and the Liberty should dominate at home.

Tuesday brings a compelling two-game WNBA slate, starting with a rare 11:30 a.m. ET tipoff between the Washington Mystics and Chicago Sky in Fairfax, Va., followed by a primetime showdown between the Las Vegas Aces and New York Liberty at Barclays Center. While none of these teams are currently at their peak, the matchups offer plenty of betting intrigue, especially for those following WNBA betting sites for the latest odds and picks.

Chicago continues to search for its identity in what’s been a disappointing campaign, while Washington remains firmly in the playoff picture despite its inconsistencies. Meanwhile, the once-dominant Liberty look to bounce back from a rocky stretch as they host a reeling Aces squad finishing up a grueling road trip. Let’s dive into the betting angles for each matchup.

Sky vs. Mystics Odds, Predictions & Best Bet

  • Spread: Mystics -6.5

  • Moneyline: Mystics -275 | Sky +220

  • Over/Under: 160.5

  • Tipoff: 11:30 a.m. ET | Broadcast: The U

The Chicago Sky (5-12) continue to struggle in the standings, but there are signs of life behind the inspired play of Angel Reese. The rookie forward has been sensational of late, averaging 17 points, 17.4 rebounds, and five assists over her last five games. Much of that volume has come in the absence of Kamilla Cardoso, but it’s clear Reese is settling in as the centerpiece of Chicago’s future.

Despite their 5-12 record, the Sky have covered in three of their last five games and are competing with more intensity. Their most recent win over the Mystics and a solid showing on their recent homestand suggest they’re closer to turning the corner than the public believes.

Washington (8-10) is still firmly in the playoff mix but has dropped two straight, including a lopsided 92-75 loss to the first-place Lynx. The Mystics do have a strong home court (5-3 at EagleBank Arena), but they haven’t been consistent enough to justify a near-double-digit spread.

 Best Bet: Sky +6.5

This line has crept up from -4.5 to -6.5, offering some buy-back value on a Chicago team trending upward. While Washington may win outright, the Sky have the pieces and momentum to keep this game close.

Aces vs. Liberty Odds, Predictions & Best Bet

  • Spread: Liberty -5

  • Moneyline: Liberty -220 | Aces +180

  • Over/Under: 165.5

  • Tipoff: 8:00 p.m. ET | Broadcast: ESPN

The New York Liberty (12-6) came into the season as a championship favorite and looked the part early with a 9-0 start. Since then, they’ve cooled off considerably, going just 3-6 in their last nine games and dropping three of their last four.

Still, they’ve played better at home (6-3) and are entering Game 3 of an extended eight-game homestand. Even without Jonquel Jones (out again tonight), New York has more depth and stability than the Aces right now.

Las Vegas (9-9) has struggled mightily this year. The defending champions are just 5-5 over their last 10, and their defensive efficiency has cratered. On top of that, the Aces will be playing their fourth road game in a row, and fatigue could be a major factor.

With chemistry issues, poor net ratings, and no real rhythm on either end of the court, Las Vegas looks far from the juggernaut they were last season. Kelsey Plum’s absence continues to be felt, and there’s a general sense that this version of the Aces is still trying to figure itself out.

Best Bet: Liberty -5

The Liberty blew out the Aces by 14 in their previous meeting in Brooklyn and are catching Las Vegas at the tail end of a road trip. Despite their recent slump, New York has enough firepower to cover the number at home.

Tuesday’s WNBA Best Bets Recap

  • Chicago Sky +6.5 @ Mystics
Angel Reese’s dominance and the Mystics’ inconsistency make this a solid spot to back the underdog.

  • New York Liberty -5 vs. Aces
The Aces are trending downward and on tired legs, while the Liberty look to regain momentum on home court.

As always, shop around for the best number, and enjoy what should be a solid Tuesday slate of WNBA action.
