World Series Ticket Prices Plummet After Dodgers Take Commanding Lead
The 2024 World Series was supposed to be one for the ages. Not only did the matchup feature two of the most popular and storied franchises in the game, but the star power on both sides was enough to turn the heads of even the most casual of baseball fans. The Los Angeles Dodgers were slated to take on the New York Yankees, and it felt like we were in for a memorable fall classic.

The ticket prices reflected that notion. Get-in prices for the first three games of the series hovered around $1,000, and the figure took a bump up when the games shifted back to Yankee Stadium in New York.
But now that the Dodgers have taken a commanding 3-0 lead and are on the brink of ending the World Series for good, the ticket prices have become more affordable. According to the secondary market app Gametime, the cheapest tickets to Tuesday’s Game 4 were listed at $1,583 just a couple of days before the series started. That number has been cut in half and then some, as the get-in price for an actual seat is sitting at $702 as we approach the hours leading up to game time.

Should the Yankees be able to force at least a 5th game, then prices of upcoming games will certainly rise to coincide with the level of interest. But they have shown few signs of life so far in the series, and seem to have been deflated by the Game 1 extra inning heroics of Freddie Freeman. There has only been one team that has come back from a 0-3 hole in the MLB post season, and that was the Boston Red Sox in 2004.
Should the Yankees force a Game 5 in this year’s World Series, it will be the 3rd and final game played in New York. The Dodgers were at home for the first two contests, and have the rights to home field advantage should Games 6 and 7 be necessary.
The Yankees are listed as the favorites for Game 4 with a money line designation of -145.
