Xavier Worthy Ready To Silence Doubters At Super Bowl LIX
Andy Reid will take his team to another Super Bowl on Feburay 9. in New Orleans, as the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Philadelphia Eagles at Super Bowl LIX.
The Chiefs can become the first team in history to win the Lombardi trophy on three consecutive occasions, as Patrick Mahomes goes for another Super Bowl MVP award.
Mahomes is not the only name to look out for the Chiefs, as rookie wide receiver Xavier Worthy continues to impress for Kansas City.
Many were skeptical over Worthy’s place in the Chiefs roster, however, he has continued to perform and revealed his pleasure behind silencing doubters in a recent press conference.
When asked about his mindset, Worthy said: “Just my mentality, I go out there just trying to prove everybody wrong. I was coming into the season doubted.
“Everybody said he’s not fit to be a big-time receiver, he’s too small, he’s injury prone. I feel like I proved everybody wrong, and I’m going to continue to prove everybody wrong.”
The NFL star holds the record for the highest number of touchdowns by a Chiefs rookie from the point of scrimmage and is now a vital member of Andy Reid’s offense.
When asked about the reasoning for his success, Worthy was quick to praise his superstar teammate in Patrick Mahomes.
Worthy said: “This is my first time stepping up and just being a guy that Pat could rely on. Just having that, and having the leadership of the guys that actually went down, they’ve been helping me, leading me throughout the way, so it’s amazing just to have them on the journey.”
Worthy was an important part of the Chiefs’ win over Buffalo Bills to win the AFC Championship, gaining 101 yards from scrimmaged, six catches for 85 yards and a receiving touchdown.
