In September, ESPN unceremoniously laid off Lowe due to budgetary concerns. Lowe was making over seven figures at ESPN.
In 2012, Lowe joined Grantland and worked alongside Simmons, who eventually left to start The Ringer.
Lowe stayed at ESPN and became one of the company’s best NBA writers.
Over the last few years, Lowe’s role at ESPN expanded to television, as he made daily appearances on the network’s afternoon basketball show, NBA Today.
Lowe also hosted the popular Lowe Post podcast.
ESPN’s decision to release Lowe sparked outrage on social media, as many of his former colleagues came to his defense to praise the NBA media personality.
After six months away from ESPN, Lowe joins Simmons at The Ringer.
“Obviously, Zach is one of the best people I’ve ever worked with,” Simmons said on his Sunday night podcast. “I was really hoping at some point in life we would get to work together again. So it’s happening.”
Simmons announced that Lowe will appear on his podcast this Tuesday, April 1.
