The 2024 Emmy Awards are just over four months away. Category submissions end in early May, with nominations announced on July 17, and the ceremony scheduled for September 15. Which shows and actors have the best odds to win at the 2024 Emmys?

With Succession off the air, there will be new winners in the major dramatic categories, including Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, and Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, where Emma Stone is a big favorite to add to her Oscar win. Meanwhile, The Bear is looking to clean up once again in the comedy categories.

The top gambling sites have provided odds for the top three drama and comedy categories.

Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series

  • Emma Stone, The Curse (Showtime) 5/4 (+125)
  • Carrie Coon, The Gilded Age (HBO) 2/1 (+200)
  • Imelda Staunton, The Crown (Netflix) 5/1 (+500)
  • Jennifer Aniston, The Morning Show (Apple TV+) 6/1 (+600)
  • Maya Erskine, Mr. & Mrs. Smith (Prime Video) 9/1 (+900)
  • Juliette Binoche, The New Look (Apple TV+) 20/1 (+2000)

The most interesting storyline in the Outstanding Lead Actress category revolves around favorite, Emma Stone (+125), who starred as Whitney Siegel in The Curse. Stone won Best Actress at the 2024 Oscars for her work in Poor Things. If Stone wins the Emmy, she will join Helen Hunt and Helen Mirren as the only actresses to win an Oscar and an Emmy in the same year.

While this is seemingly a two-horse race between Emma Stone and Carrie Coon (+200) according to the odds, it’s Imelda Staunton (+500) that could be the value play if you believe The Crown will win Outstanding Drama and Outstanding Lead Actor.

If Staunton wins, all three actresses to play Queen Elizabeth II — Claire Foy, Olivia Colman, and Staunton — will have been awarded the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.

Outstanding Drama Series

  • The Crown (Netflix) 2/1 (+200)
  • The Morning Show (Apple TV+) 3/1 (+300)
  • The Gilded Age (HBO) 4/1 (+400)
  • Fallout (Prime Video) 5/1 (+500)
  • Slow Horses (Apple TV+) 7/1 (+700)
  • The Curse (Showtime) 16/1 (+1600)
  • 3 Body Problem (Netflix) 16/1 (+1600)
  • Mr. & Mrs. Smith (Prime Video) 20/1 (+2000)
  • Loki (Disney+) 25/1 (+2500)

The final season of Netflix’s The Crown is the current favorite to win at +200. The Emmys love to reward previous winners. The Crown is looking to become the 19th program to win Outstanding Drama Series multiple times. The Crown previously won Outstanding Drama Series in 2021.

Apple TV+ could have two shots at Outstanding Drama Series with The Morning Show (+300) and Slow Horses (+700). Both shows are looking to receive their first nomination in this category.

Keep an eye on 3 Body Problem (+1600). The Netflix show stems from Alexander Woo, David Benioff, and D.B. Weiss. Benioff and Weiss previously won four times in this category for their work on HBO’s Game of Thrones

Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series

  • Gary Oldman, Slow Horses (Apple TV+) 4/5 (-125)
  • Dominic West, The Crown (Netflix) 9/4 (+225)
  • Walton Goggins, Fallout (Prime Video) 3/1 (+300)
  • Donald Glover, Mr. & Mrs. Smith 12/1 (+1200)
  • Tom Hiddleston, Loki (Disney+) 14/1 (+1400)
  • Idris Elba, Hijack (Apple TV+) 16/1 (+1600)
  • Ben Mendelsohn, The New Look (Apple TV+) 20/1 (+2000)

Oscar-winner Gary Oldman (-125) is the early favorite to win Outstanding Lead Actor for his turn as Jackson Lamb in Apple TV+’s Slow Horses. A win would mark Oldman’s first Emmy and put him one Tony Award away from winning the Triple Crown of Acting (Oscar, Emmy, and Tony).

Oldman will face stiff competition from Dominic West (+225) for his portrayal of Charles, Prince of Wales, in The Crown. West will try to follow in the footsteps of Josh O’Connor, who won the Emmy for playing the same role in The Crown Season 4.

Could Tom Hiddleston win for starring as the “God of Mischief” in Loki? With a victory, Hiddleston would become the first actor to win an Emmy in the starring role of an MCU show on Disney+.

In the comedy category, can any show stop The Bear? The dramedy about a Chicago restaurant walked away with 10 Emmy wins at last year’s ceremony, including Outstanding Comedy Series.

The Bear is a heavy favorite to win in several categories at the 2024 Emmys. Which programs and actors can spoil The Bear’s dominance?

Outstanding Comedy Series

  • The Bear (FX on Hulu) 4/6 (-150)
  • Abbott Elementary (ABC) 3/1 (+300)
  • Hacks (Max) 8/1 (+800)
  • Only Murders in the Building (Hulu) 10/1
  • Reservation Dogs (FX on Hulu) 20/1
  • What We Do in the Shadows (FX) 33/1
  • Curb Your Enthusiasm (HBO) 40/1
  • I’m A Virgo (Prime Video) 66/1

After a stellar second season, The Bear (-150) is poised to repeat for Outstanding Comedy Series. With a win, The Bear would become the 18th series with multiple victories for Outstanding Comedy Series.

The Bear’s top competition is Abbott Elementary (+300), ABC’s mockumentary sitcom about a Philadelphia public school.

The dark horse candidate for Outstanding Comedy Series is the final season of Curb Your Enthusiasm. Series creator Larry David won Outstanding Comedy Series in 1993 for his work on Seinfeld. However, David has never won in this category for Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series

  • Jeremy Allen White, The Bear (FX on Hulu) 1/4  (-400)
  • Larry David, Curb Your Enthusiasm 6/1
  • Martin Short, Only Murders in the Building (Hulu) 9/1
  • Steve Martin, Only Murders in the Building (Hulu) 12/1
  • Theo James, The Gentleman (Netflix) 16/1
  • Jharrel Jerome, I’m a Virgo (Prime Video) 20/1

Jeremy Allen White (-400) is a massive favorite to repeat as Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for his role as Carmy Berzatto in The Bear. White would become the 13th actor to win consecutively in this category.

Larry David (+600) will try to win his first acting Emmy for Curb Your Enthusiasm. This is David’s final attempt to win in this category for his role in Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Martin Short (+900) and Steve Martin (+1200) have given memorable turns for their roles in Only Murders in the Building. However, the two comedic legends are long shots to win lead actor.

Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series

  • Jean Smart, Hacks 5/6 (-120)
  • Quinta Brunson, Abbott Elementary (ABC) 6/4 (+150)
  • Ayo Edebiri, The Bear (FX on Hulu) 4/1
  • Devery Jacobs, Reservation Dogs (FX on Hulu) 12/1
  • Selena Gomez, Only Murders in the Building 20/1
  • Kirsten Wiig, Palm Royale (Apple TV+) 25/1
  • Maya Rudolph, Loot (Apple TV+) 25/1

The most competitive category of the night is Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series.

Jean Smart (-120) and Quinta Brunson (+150) won this award in 2022 and 2023, respectively.

The wild card of this category is Ayo Edebiri. In 2023, Edebiri won Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her role as Sydney Adamu on The Bear. In 2024, Edebiri is electing to run in the lead acting category for the same role.

If Edebiri wins, she will become the first actress to win in supporting and lead for the same role in one show.
