Boomer Esiason Subbed for Tony Romo on CBS and Insulted a Nation

The New York Rangers lost 3-2 to the Carolina Hurricanes on Wednesday night.  Ex-NFL quarterback Boomer Esiason, a New York Rangers fan, had plenty to say about the loss.

Here is an excerpt of his social media rant. “Can’t beat a 3rd-string goalie. Way too soft and too many lulls in the game and lost board battles. Effort matters.”

Esiason’s followers agreed.  Scott Burke said, “They just seem so disinterested Booms. I don’t get it. It’s like they think they are just gonna coast through like last year.”

This is not the first time this week that Boomer Esiason criticized the 12-7-1 Rangers.  Following Monday’s loss to the St. Louis Blues, Esiason said: “The team is soft. This is like getting Giant-esque.  The team is obviously not responding to coach.”

Is Boomer Esiason Correct?

Are the New York Rangers soft?  Is there a coaching issue?  The team has a respectable record and is in fourth place in a competitive Metropolitan Division.

Twitter follower Jeff Weinstein is not sure coaching is the problem.  He said: “They didn’t really respond to the previous two coaches either. They’re a stubborn group who looks like they never really practice and who don’t ever seem to be prepared.”

The Rangers lost four of their last five games.  The Hurricanes are a good team, but the Rangers had a 3-2 lead going into the third period.  Next up for the Rangers are back-to-back games on November 29 and 30 against the Flyers and the Canadians.  Both teams are below .500 so these are must-win games for the Rangers to turn things around and get Boomer Esiason back to a happier outlook about the team.
