Justin Allgaier may be dominating the NASCAR Xfinity Series, but he’s not developing a Cup Series-level friendship with one former champion. Well, Chase Elliott likely will get over it.
Allgaier lost control of his No. 7 Chevrolet and made contact with the No. 17 Chevrolet with 13 laps remaining. Elliott evaded a serious incident, but he said after his second and final Xfinity Series appearance this season that the mistake cost him a chance at a trip to Victory Lane.
Rookie Connor Zilisch, under the direction of first-time crew chief Dale Earnhardt Jr. outdueled his best friend, Jesse Love, to earn his first win at an oval track.
Elliott, who finished P4, pulled Allgaier aside after the race. The 2020 Cup titleholder said he will hold a grudge.
“I have a lot of respect for Justin,” Elliott told CW. “We’ve always raced each other with a lot of respect. I hate that he made a mistake with me there.”
Xfinity points leader Allgaier (+200), who posted 11 top-10 finishes in 16 starts, remains the sports-betting favorite to capture the circuit championship, according to BetOnline Sportsbook.

Is Legacy Motor Club Exploring Expansion?
Seeing improvement with its two current teams, Legacy Motor Club could expand to three garages in 2026 and add Xfinity Series standout Jesse Love to the stable, FOX Sports reported.
Legacy’s two drivers, Erik Jones and John Hunter Nemechek, have been moving up the standings after struggling throughout 2024 and the start of ‘25. Jones ranks 18th in points and Nemechek, who has posted back-to-back P6s, 22nd.
If Legacy moved to add Love, the Statesville, North Carolina-based organization would expand to three teams and add a top 20-year-old prospect to the fold. Having already qualified for the Xfinity Series playoffs, Love ranks fourth in the drivers’ standings, 116 points behind Heim.
