Kyle Larson Fights Recent NASCAR Cup Series Skid, Retains Top Drivers’ Championship Odds

After opening the NASCAR Cup Series campaign with three wins in 10 starts, Kyle Larson is attempting to shed off a slump that stretches back to his attempt to pull off “The Double” on May 25. Things didn’t go well, capped by P37 during the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Over his past eight outings, Larson posted a 19.8 average finish. In the season’s opening 12 events, his average finish was 9.8.

After consecutive road-course races, the series switches to Dover Motor Speedway, a one-mile oval.

A dirt-track specialist, Larson views “The Monster Mile” as a venue he can shake the skid. He posted five top-six finishes in his past six starts, including a P2 in 2024.

Larson, whose all-time average finish of 8.2 at the one-mile oval ranks second only to David Pearson (8.0), remains the circuit’s odds-on favorite to capture the circuit championship, according to BetOnline Sportsbook.

Despite his recent slide, Larson drew +350 odds to claim his first circuit title since 2021.

Dating back to September 2010, at least one Hendrick Motorsports driver earned a top-10 finish at Dover.
