NASCAR Cup Series AutoTrader EchoPark Automotive 400: Qualifying Rain Out, Chase Elliott’s Pole Position, Lineup At Dover Motor Speedway

Posting a series of strong runs NASCAR Cup Series driver Chase Elliott, earned the pole position for Sunday’s AutoTrader EchoPark Automotive 400 after Saturday’s practice and qualifying sessions were rained out at Dover Motor Speedway.

Over his past five starts, including two road-course races, the 2020 circuit titleholder registered one win and four top-five finishes. Over that span, his average finish was 5.6.

NASCAR officials utilized a metric, based on 70 percent previous race results and 30 percent owner points, Elliott was awarded the pole. Chase Briscoe, who placed P2 at Sonoma, will start on the outside of Elliott at the one-mile oval.

In the In-Season Challenge final four, Tyler Reddick, who will start P4, faces Ty Gibbs (P9) and Ty Dillon (P21) will tackle John Hunter Nemechek (P28).

Kyle Larson Sprinting Toward Ending Slump

Kyle Larson could have found some on-track confidence at Eldora (Ohio) Speedway, where he captured a sprint car racing event he helped co-found and earned $100,000.

The 2021 Cup Series champion posted just one top-10 finish during his past 10 starts. He has three circuit wins and remains the sport-betting favorite to capture the drivers’ title, but his slump is near its third month. Larson was tabbed with +350 odds to win the series championship, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.

During the High Limit race at Eldora, Larson claimed the lead on Lap 20 and secured the win over the final five laps.

After Saturday’s practice and qualifying sessions were washed out, Larson will start P25 Sunday.
