Von Miller believes he is more than capable of helping the Washington Commanders compete for a championship. Despite turning 36 in March, Miller believes he still has a lot left in the tank.

Miller enters his 15th year in the league on a new team.
Earlier this week, Miller and the Commanders agreed to terms on a one-year, $6.1 million contract, with the ability to earn up to $10.5 million in incentives.
Miller spent the last three seasons with the Buffalo Bills. After an eight-sack season in 2022, Miller did not record a sack in 2023 after missing the first month of the year rehabbing an ACL injury.
After serving a four-game suspension in 2024 for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy, Miller concluded the season with a total of 6.0 sacks.
His days of double-digit sacks and winning the Super Bowl MVP are behind him. However, Miller believes he can still do one thing that will benefit the Commanders.
“Let me rush, that’s what I do. I can still roll out of bed at 36 years old with my house shoes on and still rush the passer,” Miller said during Thursday’s press conference via the Commanders X account. “There’s other stuff I gotta work at, to get better at of course. The main thing for me is rushing the passer. I can do that right when I wake up fresh out of sleep. I love rushing the passer.”
At his age, Miller won’t be asked to play every down or do multiple things. His job is to sack the quarterback. Miller compared it to an NBA veteran coming off the bench to score.
“My position now, I get in the game, and I’ve got to shoot the 3 right now,” Miller explained. “I’m coming off the bench, and I’m dribbling, and I’m shooting the 3 right now. I’m not passing the ball.”

As long as Jayden Daniels is healthy, the offense should remain one of the league’s best units. This is assuming that Terry McLaurin settles his contract dispute with the team.
If Washington wants to make another deep playoff run, their defense must improve dramatically.
The Commanders allowed the third most rushing yards per game (137.5). In the NFC Championship, the Eagles destroyed the Commanders on the ground, rushing for 229 yards and seven touchdowns.
The Commanders’ defensive line was also nowhere to be found at the end of games. The Commanders ranked 30th in fourth-quarter sacks (5).
The Commanders added Miller, Javon Kinlaw, Deatrich Wise Jr., and Eddie Goldman to their defensive line. To win a championship, the Commanders will have to get it done on the defensive side of the ball.
