On his path to winning the 2025 Open Championship, Scottie Scheffler admitted to doing this after a shot. Hint: it made a loud sound.

Scottie Scheffler Admits To Farting During The 2025 Open Championship

Nature calls for everyone, even if you’re the best golfer on the planet.

During the Open Championship, a boom mic picked up a fart after Scheffler hit a shot on the 17th hole.

As Patrick McDonald of CBS Sports put it, “Doesn’t matter how old you get, a well-timed fart will never not be funny.”

After the fart went viral, the internet assumed it was one of the spectators around Scheffler. As it turns out, the fart was generated by the world’s No. 1-ranked golfer.

During Scheffler’s appearance on Pardon My Take, PFT Commenter asked Scheffler if he farted. The Open champion fell on his sword and accepted it.

“Oh yeah, that was me,” Scheffler said as the trio erupted in laughter.

When PFT asked if the fart was an accident, Scheffler said it wasn’t and explained how the length of his round led to the bowel movement.

“You’re out there for like six hours. You’re eating some different food over there,” Scheffler said. “Some stuff is going to happen.”

Scheffler did not know it would be that loud.

“You never know when the boom mic is there. You never know what they’re going to pick up,” the four-time major champion said. “I’m actually surprised it hasn’t happened more in the past, picking up stuff like that. I literally didn’t think anything about it, and after we got inside, Xander Schauffele was showing me the video. He pulls up the video, and I see myself standing on 17, and I’m like, ‘Oh, I know what this is.’”

How would Scheffler rank the fart?

“It had a nice sound to it,” Scheffler added. “As long as we were outside, it was perfect.”

Scheffler ended by saying the fart did not smell because he was “outside.”

Scottie Scheffler’s Dominance

Winning the fourth major of his career was all in a day’s work for Scheffler.

The 29-year-old is on a historic run. Since February 2022, Scheffler has 17 PGA Tour wins, including the 2025 PGA Championship and the 2025 Open Championship.

What makes Scheffler great is his ability to distance himself from his competition. In his four wins this season, Scheffler’s margin of victory has been four or more strokes.

The World No. 1 also joined an exclusive club with his win at the Open Championship. Scheffler joins Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, and Phil Mickelson as the only golfers to surpass $90 million in career earnings.

Next up for Scheffler will be the FedEx Cup playoffs.
