Micah Parsons Trade Destinations: Steelers, Chargers, & Raiders Among Rumored Landing Spots

Micah Parsons’ future with the Dallas Cowboys is suddenly in doubt. The All-Pro pass rusher and the team have reportedly reached a stalemate in contract negotiations. Parsons took to X on Friday to thank Cowboys fans for his time in Dallas and announce that he has formally requested a trade.

If that happens, the 26-year-old would instantly become the most sought-after defensive player to hit the open market in recent seasons. Parsons has redefined the edge rusher position with his rare blend of speed, power, and versatility, making him one of the most feared pass rushers in the league over the past four seasons.

While Dallas would undoubtedly demand a massive return, several teams have both the cap space and the championship aspirations to make a serious push for his services. Let’s break down a list of Micah Parsons’ top destinations following his trade request.

Pittsburgh Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers appear to be all-in on winning a Super Bowl after signing Aaron Rodgers during the offseason. The Steelers have one of the oldest rosters in the NFL and haven’t been shy about making moves for high-profile veterans like D.K. Metcalf and Jalen Ramsey.

Pittsburgh committed $123 million to T.J. Watt just over a month ago but they have enough cap space to get the job done. The Steelers are projected to have $33.8 million in remaining cap space in 2025, $45 million in 2026, and $212 million in 2027, according to Spotrac. Pairing Watt with Parsons in a 3-4 defense could give the Steelers one of the best pass rushing duos in NFL history. Since being drafted in 2021, Parsons has the fifth-most sacks in the NFL (52.5). Meanwhile, Watt has 108 sacks since joining the league in 2017, the most in the NFL.

The Steelers haven’t won a playoff game since 2017, the longest drought in franchise history. Making a move for Parsons could put an end to that streak and put Pittsburgh on the map as a serious Super Bowl contender in 2025.

Los Angeles Chargers

The Los Angeles Chargers are another team that appears ready to take a leap in 2025 behind quarterback Justin Herbert and head coach Jim Harbaugh.

Los Angeles is projected to have 31.9 million in cap space in 2025 and $93.1 million next season, third-most in the NFL. The Chargers led the league in scoring defense in 2024 (17.7 points per game) and  finished tied for sixth with 46 sacks but no player had more than 8.5.

Adding Parsons to an already budding defense should give the Chargers enough firepower to remain one of the league’s top units and give Justin Herbert a chance to earn his first career playoff win.

Las Vegas Raiders

Like the other two teams on this list, Las Vegas has enough cap space to make a deal and re-sign Parsons to a big contract. The Raiders have a projected $38.2 million in cap space this season, third in the NFL, and a league-high $114 million in cap space in 2026.

With new head coach Pete Carroll at the helm, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Las Vegas prioritize getting better on the defensive side of the ball. The Raiders ranked near the bottom of the league in sacks and had the 25th-ranked scoring defense (25.5 points per game), so there’s plenty of room for improvement in Vegas.

Adding Parsons alongside pass rushing threat Maxx Crosby would give Las Vegas one of the league most fearsome duos and should instantly make the Raiders defense better. With Geno Smith under center, the Raiders could be one of the surprise teams in the AFC this season, especially if they make a splash move for Parsons.
