American tennis fans could be seeing a 2028 Los Angeles Olympics women’s doubles tennis duo in the making with Coco Gauff and McCartney Kessler. Gauff and Kessler have advanced to the National Bank Open final with an impressive come from behind win over Olga Danilovic and Su-wei Hsieh.

Gauff is as accomplished at doubles as she is at singles. She is the 2024 French Open women’s doubles champion with Katerina Siniakova. Gauff also won several titles with Jessica Pegula including the 2023 Miami Open. She has nine career doubles titles: three with Caty McNally early in her career, five with Jessica Pegula, and one with Katerina Siniakova.

Though she is currently focused less on doubles week in and week out at WTA tournaments, she has teamed with Robin Montgomery (Madrid Open) and Alex Eala (Italian Open) earlier this year. Those teams lost in the quarterfinals so Gauff is experiencing her best doubles results of the year in Canada with Kessler.
Kessler plays doubles regularly with various partners, most recently Clara Tauson who defeated Iga Swiatek this week in singles at the National Bank Open. Though Kessler has three WTA singles titles, she has never won a doubles title.
Who Will Coco Gauff And McCartney Kessler Play In The Finals?
Gauff and Kessler await the winner of Tuesday’s semifinal between the Mubadala Citi Open champions Shuai Zhang and Taylor Townsend and Caroline Dolehide and Sofia Kenin.
The final could be an entirely American affair if Dolehide and Kenin win, or 3/4 of an American event if Zhang and Townsend advance. Dolehide is the defending champion with Desirae Krawcyzk.
