2025 has been a breakout year for 20-year-old Filipina tennis star Alexandra Eala. The Miami Open semifinalist continues to hone her game while putting the Philippines on the tennis map, and the results continue to come.

Eala has always embraced her heritage. NIKE tennis has also been hugely supportive of that effort with specific attire featuring a sampaguita, the country’s flower. This spurred a NIKE merchandise movement with sampaguita attire that has flown off the shelves and online stores in the Philippines.

Before hitting the courts in New York City as part of the US Open main draw later this month, Eala took time out to pose for the August Vogue Philippines cover.

A day after reporting that NIKE Tennis may have lost one of its promising young ATP stars in Jack Draper, it is good news to see a close relationship with Alexandra Eala emerging.
Alexandra Eala and NIKE tennis will be on display at the upcoming US Open. Main draw play begins on August 27, and this will be her first appearance in the Grand Slam’s main draw. She withdrew from the Cincinnati Open to rest her left shoulder which has sustained a minor injury. Eala is the 2022 US Open juniors champion who would love nothing more than to continue the 2025 trend of junior champions (Coco Gauff: French Open and Iga Swiatek: Wimbledon) winning the same Grand Slam at the WTA level years later.
