Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce hinted that his production dropped last season due to opportunities off the field.

By Kelce’s standards, 2024 was a down year.
The Chiefs’ tight end still caught 97 passes. However, Kelce’s 823 receiving yards and three touchdowns were his lowest totals since his rookie year in 2013.
Plus, the Chiefs were outclassed by the Philadelphia Eagles in last season’s Super Bowl. For Kelce, winning a Super Bowl is “the only goal.”
Kelce recently reflected on his disappointing season to GQ. Due to his burgeoning entertainment career, Kelce admitted that he might have lost some focus in preparing for the 2024 season.
“I think it might have slipped a little bit because I did have a little bit more focus in trying to set myself up. And opportunities came up where I was excited to venture into a new world of acting and being an entertainer,” Kelce said. “I don’t say this as ‘I shouldn’t have done it.’ I’m just saying that my work ethic is such that I have so much pride in how I do things that I never want the product to tail off, and I feel like these past two years haven’t been to my standard.”
Kelce added, “I just have such a motivation to show up this year for my guys.”
In 2024, Kelce hosted Are You Smarter than a Celebrity? and appeared in FX’s Grotesquerie. The tight end also had a comedic role in Netflix’s Happy Gilmore 2.
Kelce, 35, has two years remaining on his contract.

Speaking of Kelce’s off-the-field profile, the tight end is currently dating Taylor Swift, arguably the most famous person in the music industry today.
Swift has been spotted at many Chiefs’ games for the past two seasons. Swift was on the field with Kelce after the Chiefs won Super Bowl LVIII.
Last month, Swift appeared at Tight End University with Kelce and performed at the event’s benefit concert.
After years of teasing an appearance, Swift will finally appear on the next episode of the New Heights podcast with Travis and his brother, Jason Kelce.
In a viral teaser for her appearance, Swift announced the name of her 12th album, The Life of a Showgirl.
Swift’s episode of New Heights premieres on Aug. 13 at 7 p.m. ET.
