Tommy Fleetwood picked a great time to earn his first PGA Tour win.
The 34-year-old from England finally broke through with a victory on the PGA Tour last weekend, winning the 2025 Tour Championship. Fleetwood earned the biggest payday of his career, taking home a $10,000,000 check, the richest prize of any event on the Tour this season.
The victory increased his 2025 earnings by 117% from $8,496,238 to $18,496,238, moving him up six spots to No. 2 on the official PGA Tour money list, behind only world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler.
Fleetwood’s first career PGA Tour win also moved him up a whopping 23 spots on the all-time money list, where he now ranks 32nd with $43,430,669. He boosted his career earnings up 29.91% with the victory and also earned himself a five-year exemption on the PGA Tour.
Fleetwood’s First Win Showcases Resilience
Throughout the season, Fleetwood has been constantly reminded of his close-calls and failure to finish atop the leaderboard but his confidence never wavered.
“I’ve been a PGA TOUR winner for a long time, it’s just always been in my mind,” Fleetwood said after the win. “A lot of close calls, but I’ve always enjoyed the challenge.”
Those experiences have sharpened Fleetwood’s mindset, giving him the grit and killer instinct to finally get the job done.
An eight-time winner around the world, Fleetwood has been on the big stage before but he’s never finished a tournament quite like this. Earlier this year, he watched a one-shot lead disappear in the Travelers Championship, and more recently, held a two-shot lead vanish with only three holes to play at the St. Jude Championship on his way to a disappointing finish.
“This wasn’t the most comfortable I’ve been,” Fleetwood said with a smile. “I feel like I’ve had a great attitude throughout it all. … I’m so happy I got it done.”

This time, Fleetwood refused to let history repeat itself. After a bogey on the 15th, he closed out the championship with par on the final three holes, drawing a roar from the East Lake Crowd.
“Tommy! Tommy! Tommy!” they chanted as he let out a rare burst of emotion — a release of years of frustration and a statement that he had finally conquered American soil.
Fellow PGA Tour pro Justin Rose was among the supporters in the crowd, pumping his fist as Fleetwood tapped in for par on the 18th hole.
For Fleetwood, a PGA Tour fan favorite, the victory goes beyond the record books.
Long considered one of the best players without a PGA Tour win, he now sheds that label while bolstering his résumé as one of Europe’s most consistent stars. The breakthrough not only validates his perseverance but also positions him as a genuine contender at golf’s biggest events in 2026.
For Fleetwood, the long wait is finally over, and with momentum on his side, the best chapter of his career may still be ahead
