Micah Parsons runs up the field.

It’s a battle of 1-0 teams as the Washington Commanders travel to Lambeau to take on the Green Bay Packers on Thursday Night Football. Here are three storylines to watch for in Commanders vs. Packers.

Micah Parsons Looking for More Success in Second Game with Packers

After one game, the Packers must be thrilled with Micah Parsons, whom they acquired from the Dallas Cowboys in a blockbuster trade.

Parsons recorded one sack in the Packers’ dominant 27-13 win over the Detroit Lions.

Parsons only played 29 snaps in his Packers’ debut. The pass rusher came into the game with a back injury that limited his availability in practice the week prior.

Parsons also had to learn a new defense on the fly after being traded less than two weeks before Week 1.

Head coach Matt LaFleur said the Packers would be keeping Parsons on a snap count in Week 1. With a quick Thursday night turnaround in Week 2, the snap count could be in effect for Week 2.

If Week 1 proved anything, it’s that Parsons can make a huge impact for however long he stays on the field.

Jayden Daniels and the Commanders’ Offense Look to Improve on So-So Week 1 Performance

Looking at the stats in the Commanders’ 21-6 win over the New York Giants, you would think Washington’s offense had a productive day.

The Commanders accumulated 432 yards of total offense, including 220 in the running game.

Quarterback Jayden Daniels finished with over 300 yards of total offense and one passing touchdown.

However, the Commanders’ offense stalled on several drives, with Daniels committing a costly penalty to end Washington’s chances of scoring before the half.

Deebo Samuel thrived in his Commanders’ debut with seven catches for 77 yards and one rushing touchdown. Meanwhile, Terry McLaurin finished the game with only two catches for 27 yards.

There was a lot to like about the Commanders’ victory over the Giants. However, Washington must clean up the penalties (12 in Week 1) and mistakes to win on the road.

Could this be a Defensive Battle?

With Daniels and Jordan Love, the offenses of the Commanders and Packers generate headlines. However, their defenses shone in Week 1.

The Commanders did not allow a touchdown against the Giants and held New York to three points on two drives inside the 5-yard line.

The Packers’ defense held the Lions, who led the NFL in scoring with 33.2 points per game last season, without a touchdown until the game’s closing moments.

The total for the game is 48.5. If these two defenses come out strong, the under might be an appealing play.
