Legendary tennis coach Brad Stine has been with Tommy Paul for six years. He describes 2025 as an up and down year which is a fair assessment. However, he also shares the weird event that happened to TP during the clay season before playing at the Italian Open. This event could be the culprit for Paul’s injury that troubled him the rest of the year.
What Brad Stine Said
Stine said that they took a day off after Tommy exited the Madrid Open but before traveling to Rome. The next day when TP went to his locker, it was empty. Everything was gone including his custom and gently worn orthotics.
As a result, Tommy Paul had to use new orthotics which ended up causing him a great deal of foot pain.

The second was his truck getting repossessed. He was in Europe for the clay season, and he said that he wasn’t picking up calls from Ford because he thought they were wanting to sell him a new truck. It turns out they were trying to let him know there was a banking issue.

“ It’s been a stressful week. I got my truck repossessed. I missed a couple of payments and they took my truck from my house. If you know me that’s my baby. I got my trainer to go pick it up today…

Based on the above, Stine’s assessment of Paul’s year being up and down seems spot on.
