If you bet on the Los Angeles Rams in Week 3, I feel your pain.
The Rams were covering the 3.5 spread for the entire game and even had a 26-7 lead at one point.
Then, the Eagles enforced that Super Bowl pedigree and scored the next 26 points to win 33-26. Adding insult to injury, the Eagles blocked the final field goal attempt of the game and returned it for a touchdown to cover the spread and leave Rams’ backers in a pool of tears.
For the first time all season, the Eagles opened up the playbook and let Jalen Hurts throw the ball. Hurts threw for three touchdown passes in the second half to lead the comeback efforts.
A.J. Brown finally got the ball and rewarded fantasy owners with six receptions, 109 yards, and one touchdown.
Speaking of comebacks, the Bucs blew a 17-point lead against the New York Jets last Sunday. The Jets blocked a field goal attempt and returned it for a touchdown to give New York a 27-26 lead with just under two minutes left.
However, Baker Mayfield showed why he’s an MVP candidate, leading the Bucs’ offense on a seven-play, 48-yard drive to set up the game-winning 36-yard field goal by Chase McLaughlin to give Tampa a 29-27 victory.
The Bucs are dealing with numerous injuries on offense. Mike Evans is out for multiple weeks with a hamstring injury.
Left tackle Tristan Wirfs and wide receiver Chris Godwin have not played all season. There is a chance both could play on Sunday.
The books are definitely treating this line like all three of those Bucs’ starters won’t play. Even if that’s the case, the Bucs have the Eagles’ number. Tampa has beaten the Eagles four of the last five times, including last season’s 33-16 win in September.
Bucs coach Todd Bowles knows how to defend the Eagles’ offense. The Eagles might find a way to win by a field goal, but I’ll back the Bucs to cover.
Pick: Buccaneers +3.5 (-110)
Eagles vs. Buccaneers Prop
Mayfield is a gamer. The Browns now look foolish for letting him walk.
Mayfield has five touchdown passes and zero interceptions in his last two games against the Eagles.
Even without Evans, Mayfield has established strong connections with Emeka Egbuka and Sterling Shepard. Mayfield will come to play on Sunday.
