The quarterback change worked.
Ahead of Week 4, Giants head coach Brian Daboll made the quarterback change from Russell Wilson to Jaxson Dart. The gamble paid off, as Dart led the Giants to a 21-18 win over the Los Angeles Chargers.
Dart struggled as a passer — 13 of 20 for 111 yards and one touchdown — and thrived as a runner — 10 carries for 54 yards and one touchdown. The Giants rushed the ball 42 times against the Chargers, the second-highest NFL total of the season.
More importantly, Dart provided juice to an offense that desperately needed a spark. New York’s dominated time of possession. — 35:28 to 24:32.
The Giants’ defense was the real story, forcing two turnovers and two sacks.
Another start for Spencer Rattler led to another Saints’ loss. Rattler is now 0-10 following Sunday’s 31-19 loss in Week 4. No one expected the Saints to go into Buffalo and win. That being said, the Saints hung tough and only trailed 21-19 in the fourth quarter before the Bills pulled away.
The Saints have not won a game this season. However, they’ve been competitive in three of the four, trailing by only one possession in the fourth quarter in those games.
These are two offenses that struggle to score — Giants rank 27th in scoring (18.3), and the Saints rank 28th (16.5).
Without Malik Nabers, the Giants don’t have any explosive playmakers on the outside. The Saints don’t have a dynamic quarterback. This game should be low scoring.
