Commanders vs. Chargers Odds and Predictions

Jayden Daniels is back. After missing two weeks with a knee injury, Daniels was a full participant in practice this week, paving the way for his return on Sunday.

Backup quarterback Marcus Mariota went 1-1 in Daniels’ absence.

Daniels might also get back his favorite target, wide receiver Terry McLaurin, who missed last week with a quad injury. Head coach Dan Quinn said McLaurin is trending in the right direction.

The last time Daniels played, the Commanders were dominated by an elite Packers defense. The Chargers’ defense might be just as good as the Packers’ defense. Los Angeles has not allowed more than 21 points in a game this season.

The Chargers have allowed the third-fewest yards per game (270.0). Los Angeles also ranks fifth in sacks (13), including a six-sack performance in the Week 4 loss against the Giants.

On the flip side, the Chargers’ offensive line has been decimated by injury. Joe Alt is doubtful for this game with an ankle injury. Rashawn Slater is out for the season, so Justin Herbert is down his two starting tackles.

If the Chargers can’t protect Herbert, he’s a different quarterback — 15-42 with one touchdown and two interceptions in the last three weeks when pressured. Until the Chargers bolster their offensive line, I’ll take the Commanders to cover.

Pick: Commanders +3 (-115)

Commanders vs. Chargers Prop

Allen’s return to Los Angeles has been seamless.

Allen has hauled in 24 receptions for 231 yards and three touchdowns through four games. The veteran wide receiver has at least five receptions in all four games.

Allen now draws a Washington defense that allows the sixth most passing yards in the NFL (248.5). Look for Allen to get five catches for the fifth consecutive week.

Pick: Keenan Allen Over 4.5 Receptions (-130)
