Heading into NFL Week 5, there are several key injuries to monitor, including a trio of running backs who won’t play on Sunday.

Bucky Irving Injury Status

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be without running back Bucky Irving against the Seattle Seahawks.

Irving has been ruled out with foot and shoulder injuries. Irving was spotted wearing a walking boot at Tampa’s facilities earlier this week.

Irving began the 2024 season as the backup to Rachaad White. By the end of last season, Irving jumped White on the depth chart to become the starter. Irving led all rookies with 1,514 yards from scrimmage, including 1,122 rushing yards.

Irving entered the 2025 season as the No. 1 back for the Bucs. Irving rushed for 237 yards on 71 carries through four games. The second-year back also has 19 receptions for 193 yards and two touchdowns.

White will be the starter on Sunday, with Sean Tucker and rookie Josh Williams backing him up.

The Bucs (3-1) travel west to play the Seahawks (3-1) in Week 5.

Panthers RB Chuba Hubbard Ruled Out

Carolina Panthers running back Chuba Hubbard has been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins.

Hubbard didn’t practice all week. Despite being considered day-to-day, Panthers head coach Dave Canales decided to rule Hubbard out for Sunday’s contest.

“We just couldn’t get Chuba around quickly enough to feel confident to put him out there,” Canales said about Hubbard via Panthers.com. “So we thought this would be a good week to get him back to strength, back to health. We’ll keep working on it through the weekend and then take a look back at him early next week.

Hubbard has carried the ball 53 times for 217 yards through four games.

With Hubbard out, Rico Dowdle gets the start. Dowdle signed with the Panthers this offseason after playing the last five seasons for the Dallas Cowboys.

As the Cowboys’ starting running back in 2024, Dowdle rushed for 1,515 yards and five touchdowns. The 27-year-old added 415 receiving yards and five touchdowns.

The Panthers (1-3) host the Dolphins (1-3) in Week 5.

Jets RB Braelon Allen Heads To The IR

New York Jets running back Braelon Allen will be sidelined for the foreseeable future.

Head coach Aaron Glenn announced Friday that Allen has a knee injury and will be out for eight to 12 weeks. Allen will be placed on injured reserve.

“There’s two different ways he can go about it,” Glenn said. “He could rehab this. It would be the same timeframe, or he could have surgery and get it cleaned up. But the rehab time will be exactly the same. That will be a decision that him and his agent will have to make. I’m not making that decision for him.”

Allen serves as the short-yardage and goal-line running back for a Jets offense that ranks third in rushing.

Allen has 76 yards and one touchdown on 18 carries through four games. Allen had a costly fumble on Monday night near the goal line that swung the momentum toward the Dolphins.

Isaiah Davis will take Allen’s spot as Breece Hall’s backup.

The Jets (0-4) host the Dallas Cowboys (1-2-1) in Week 5.
