Ahead of the Nov. 4 deadline, the Seahawks added another wide receiver to their potent offense.
The Seahawks traded a 2026 fourth-round pick and a 2026 sixth-round pick to the New Orleans Saints for Shaheed.
The 27-year-old is currently playing on a one-year deal worth $5.2 million. After the season, Shaheed will become a free agent, and his market will certainly be robust.
Despite never playing a snap with the Seahawks, would Shaheed want to remain in Seattle beyond 2025?
“I’m here to stay, man,” Shaheed said about playing for the Seahawks via FOX13 Seattle. “We can figure something out after the season ends.”
Shaheed doesn’t view himself as a rental, saying he wants to be with the Seahawks in the “long term.”
In nine games, Shaheed has 44 receptions for 499 yards and two touchdowns. Shaheed also brings a dynamic element to special teams as a former All-Pro return specialist.
Shaheed should fit in seamlessly in Seattle because of his familiarity with the offensive coordinator, Klint Kubiak. In 2024, Kubiak was the offensive coordinator for the Saints.
Before his season-ending injury, Shaheed thrived in Kubiak’s system, with 20 catches for 349 yards and three touchdowns in six games.
“Super glad to be connected back with him,” Shaheed said about Kubiak. “He’s familiar with me. He knows my strengths, and I know what his mindset is going into games. And you know, shouldn’t be too hard to get acclimated with him, just find my role in the offense.”

The Seahawks’ offense is firing on all cylinders this year. In his first year with the team, quarterback Sam Darnold has Seattle’s offense ranked fourth in passing (255.1 yards per game), fifth in scoring (28.9 points per game), and ninth in total offense (369.0 yards per game).
Jaxon Smith-Njigba has been downright unguardable with Darnold. Smith-Njigba has an NFL-leading 948 receiving yards to go along with 58 receptions and four touchdowns.
Outside of Smith-Njigba, Seattle’s receivers have been average at best. Cooper Kupp is the team’s second-leading receiver with 24 receptions for 293 yards and one touchdown.
Shaheed provides the Seahawks with a legitimate deep threat for Darnold.
“It’s a great opportunity to add to our team,” Macdonald said. “Didn’t feel like we were missing something. It was not like we’re trying to, like, plug holes or anything like that. It was just an opportunity to get a great player and to augment what we’re doing. So that was it. Yeah, excited about it, and excited to see him, see him out there.”
Shaheed will make his debut for the Seahawks (6-2) on Sunday when they host the Arizona Cardinals (3-5).
