The Sunday tennis news consists of a valiant effort by Sophia Webster for Vanderbilt and another Team Italy victory in Davis Cup.

Sophia Webster

Sophia Webster concluded an outstanding All-American season with Vanderbilt. Webster and her partner Célia-Belle Mohr lost to NC State in the final to doubles team of Osuigwe and Broadfoot.

Webster is the daughter of UCLA women’s tennis coach Stella Sampras Webster and the niece of Pete Sampras.

Her twin sister Savannah Webster is also continuing her academic career by playing tennis, this season at the University of Miami and next year closer to her sister at Belmont University.

Italy Wins Davis Cup Again

Without Jannik Sinner, Team Italy showed that it remains the dominant ATP squad in tennis. Led by Flavio Cobolli and Matteo Berrettini, and doubles superstar Andrea Vavassori, Team Italy won its third straight Davis Cup.

That is an amazing feat especially when it is coupled with the Team Italy dominance at the Billie Jean King Cup Finals this year.
