If Kiffin leaves Ole Miss, it will not be for Florida.
Per Gators Online’s Zach Abolverdi, Florida is moving on from Kiffin. The Rebels’ head coach is expected to choose between Ole Miss and LSU.
“In recent days, sources said Kiffin’s erratic communication and behavior has led Florida to think he may be more interested in his other options,” Abolverdi wrote. “Sources added that UF does not think Kiffin is coming to Gainesville and gets the sense that he’s going to do something else.”
Florisa was willing to make Kiffin one of the highest-paid coaches in college football.
With Kiffin out, Florida must now look elsewhere for a new head coach. Last month, the Gators fired Billy Napier after a 3-4 start.
In four seasons, Napier never won more than eight games. He ended his tenure at Florida with a 22–23 record.
Florida is now expected to go after Louisville’s Jeff Brohm, Washington’s Jedd Fisch, and Tulane’s Jon Sumrall.
Since Urban Meyer left after the 2010 season, Florida has had four full-time head coaches. The Gators have not had a double-digit-win season since 2019.

Kiffin remains undecided on his future.
Kiffin started his Friday off with a 38-19 win over Mississippi State in the Egg Bowl. With an 11-1 record, Ole Miss will make the College Football Playoff.
Before Ole Miss learns about its playoff status, Kiffin must decide on his future.
Kiffin is expected to inform Ole Miss officials about his future on Friday night or Saturday morning. As of now, Kiffin likely has two options: stay at Ole Miss or depart for LSU.
When asked after the Egg Bowl if he’s decided on his future, Kiffin said, “No, I haven’t. I got a lot of praying to do to figure that out tomorrow.”
Ole Miss officials reportedly said they would increase Kiffin’s salary to keep their coach. LSU’s contract offer will likely make Kiffin one of the top-paid coaches. Plus, LSU’s financial commitment to the team is expected to be over $20 million.
If Kiffin departs for LSU, he probably would not be able to coach Ole Miss in the College Football Playoff.
If Kiffin stays, Ole Miss is expected to host a CFP quarterfinal game on campus on Dec. 19 or 20.
