De'Anthony Melton, Golden State Warriors

The Golden State Warriors have upgraded De’Anthony Melton to available for Thursday’s road game against the Philadelphia 76ers after a successful left ACL rehab.

De’Anthony Melton Tore ACL Last November

Melton had spent months recovering from the left ACL tear he suffered with Golden State on Nov. 12, 2024. The 27-year-old appeared in just six games with the Warriors last season.

In those six games (two starts), Melton averaged 10.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.8 assists while shooting 40.7% from the field, 37.1% from 3-point territory, and 62.5% at the foul line.

This update comes after the Warriors shared that Melton was making good progress and has been a full participant in recent practices, including scrimmages.

“I’m trying to provide everything – if it’s from shooting, to playmaking, to defense, to IQ – I think I bring all that stuff to the table,” Melton told reporters Monday after practice at Chase Center. “And also, just to have a secondary ball handler out there just to help break guys down and kick out at the same time…

“… And my ability to shoot and defend is definitely something I think any team can use. So, just bringing all that stuff to the table and just being a smart basketball player too.”

Melton Re-Signed With Warriors

Per ESPN’s Tim Bontemps, coach Steve Kerr said in early October that Melton would “hopefully be ready sometime in the next couple months,” putting the former second-rounder in line to return around December at the latest.

Kerr also said last month while on 95.7 The Game’s “Willard & Dibs” that Melton is “getting healthier and stronger every day, and he’s definitely going to play a part of the season coming up.”

Golden State traded Melton to the Brooklyn Nets last December. He returned to the Warriors over the summer on a two-year, $6.5 million deal. His contract includes a second-year player option and a trade restriction.

The USC product also missed a significant portion of the 2023-24 season due to a back injury and has appeared in just 14 regular-season and playoff games since January 2024.

Now is the perfect time for Melton to make his return amid the Warriors’ 11-11 start to the season. They currently sit eighth in the Western Conference standings, two games below the seventh-place Phoenix Suns (13-9).

However, the Warriors still have multiple players on the injury report.

Jimmy Butler (left knee soreness), Al Horford (right sciatic nerve irritation), Trayce Jackson-Davis (right knee patellar tendonitis), Jonathan Kuminga (right ankle soreness), and Quinten Post (left ankle sprain) are listed as questionable.

After taking on the Sixers, the Warriors will then visit Cleveland on Saturday and Chicago on Sunday. They will have a four-day break before hosting the Minnesota Timberwolves on Dec. 12.
