Golden State Warriors veteran forward Draymond Green limped to the locker room late in the second quarter of Thursday night’s 99-98 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers and was immediately ruled out with a right foot injury.
Draymond Green Exited Early Amid Warriors’ Struggles
Green, who was in a walking boot postgame, told ESPN that it felt similar to the foot sprain he suffered in a loss to the Portland Trail Blazers last week when Donovan Clingan landed on it.
The Warriors were already without Stephen Curry (left thigh contusion) and Jimmy Butler III (left knee soreness) due to injuries. Curry is expected to remain sidelined for at least another two games.
Green, meanwhile, has missed just three games this season. The nine-time All-Defensive member was reportedly playing through pain and said he hoped to keep playing through it.

However, Green left before halftime when the Warriors were facing nearly a 20-point deficit. The time of Green’s injury is suspicious with both Curry and Butler out and the Dubs trailing by double digits.
Minnesota Timberwolves star big man Rudy Gobert once said, “Every time Steph doesn’t play, [Green] doesn’t want to play without Steph, so he does anything he can to get ejected.”
There could be some truth to that statement.
Green Missed Birth Of His First Child
More importantly, Green said ahead of Thursday’s game against the Sixers that he missed the birth of his child due to the upcoming Eastern Conference road trip.
“It sucks. Pretty [explicit] if I’m being honest. But nonetheless, this is my job. I love to do my job. But it’s terrible if I’m being honest,” Green said.
“It’s not the first time I’ve been in this position, though. But my wife does a great job. She’s strong. I’ll do all I can to get back here if I need to.”
Green’s injury could still be real, but the timing of it raised a red flag.

The Warriors have now lost six out of their past eight games and have dropped below .500 for the first time this season. They are 7-3 at home, 4-9 on the road, and 12-8 against Western Conference opponents.
Golden State was also held to just 10 points in the first quarter, missing 21 of its 25 shots.
Head coach Steve Kerr finally used a lineup that featured two-way guard Pat Spencer, who scored 16 points in a fourth-quarter rally that brought the Warriors from 20 down briefly into the lead.
Although the Warriors outscored Philadelphia 32-19 in the final frame, Sixers rookie VJ Edgecombe made a putback layup with 0.9 left to hand the Dubs another heartbreaking loss.
Perhaps Green could have been the difference-maker in a close game.
The NBA community is roasting Green on social media right now because he gives up too easily. He shows more energy and emotion when trash-talking his opponents.
Through 20 appearances (all starts) this season, Green is averaging 8.0 points, 6.1 rebounds, 5.5 assists, and 28.2 minutes per contest while shooting 38.2% from the field and 33.3% from deep.
The Warriors continue their three-game homestand on Saturday at Cleveland.
