College Football Championship Week Odds: Big Ten Stealing SEC’s Thunder

Prepare for college football’s version of championship Saturday.

On tap are four major matchups: Duke vs. Virginia in the ACC finale, Indiana vs. Ohio State (Big Ten), BYU vs Texas Tech (Big XII) and Georgia vs. Alabama (SEC).

Here is a look at Saturday’s conference-title matchups, with Moneyline odds by BetOnline Sportsbook:

ACC: Virginia (-185) vs. Duke (+161)

Scheduled at the same time slot as No. 1 vs. No. 2 in the Big Ten title game, the ACC version certainly doesn’t hold the same esteem. If the Blue Devils pull off an upset in Charlotte, N.C., the conference likely will be shut out of the College Football Playoff. James Madison suddenly became big Dukies.

Big Ten: Ohio State (-185) vs. Indiana (+161)

Is this the Hoosiers’ season? In their previous 125 years, they never earned double-digit win campaign and seek their first league crown since 1967 and second all-time. The defending national champion Buckeyes, on the other hand, have 32 double-digit win seasons and 41 conference titles over the last 113 years. With both teams entering 12-0, the winner in Indianapolis likely will receive the top seed in the CFP.

Big XII: Texas Tech (-500) vs. BYU (+383)

In the evolving league, Saturday’s winner will be the sixth conference champion over the past six seasons. Texas Tech vs. BYU may not be Oklahoma vs. Nebraska or Texas vs. Colorado, but there may still be some entertainment value. Maybe. The programs played each other a few weeks ago and  Texas Tech won, 29-7.

SEC: Georgia (-125) vs Alabama (+185)

The Big Ten may be stealing much of the SEC’s thunder, but it will be hard for fans to overlook a matchup that’s becoming an annual affair. The two programs have met for the conference crown 14 times over the past 16 seasons. The underdog Crimson Tide, who beat the Bulldogs, 24-21, Sept. 28, seek a season sweep. Expect another thriller.
