The USTA Tennis Orange Bowl Finals Happened Today, But You Would Never Know It

The USTA Orange Bowl finals happened today. The premier competition of tennis’s young future stars took place in Florida with very little fanfare.

In fact, there was such little fanfare that people could not even find out the results.

To begin with, four finals were scheduled to take place at the same time, 9 AM ET on Sunday morning.

Some said the scheduling was weather-related, but that has not been confirmed.

Regardless, the lack of information is alarming.

American Jack Kennedy, a University of Virginia commit, was in the Boys 18 final, and seven hours later, tennis media professionals were trying to find out the final result. Kennedy is the reigning 2025 Junior US Open doubles champion.

What Is The Tennis Orange Bowl?

If you are thinking, the Orange Bowl is not a big deal hence the lack of coverage, you would be incorrect.

Esteemed Grand Slam champions have won the Orange Bowl before setting the WTA and ATP Tours on fire.

Coco Gauff won in 2018. Other recent champions include Sofia Kenin (2014) and Bianca Andreescu (2015).

Roger Federer (1998), Andy Roddick (1999), and Dominic Thiem (2011) have also won the Orange Bowl.

In addition, Chris Evert is involved with the event as it is hosted at her facility.

Because it is a good barometer for tennis’s future stars and occurs during the brief ATP and WTA offseason, it is surprising that it does not get more publicity.

By the way we eventually learned that Kennedy lost 6-3, 6-3 to Thijs Boogaard. Thanks Zoo Tennis.com.
