Will Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers retire before the 2026 season? Find out the latest odds.

Will Aaron Rodgers Retire?

Rodgers is on the brink of bringing the Pittsburgh Steelers back to the postseason.

While Rodgers concentrates on the rest of the season, Polymarket is already setting odds for Rodgers’ potential retirement. As of December 26, the odds suggest a 60% chance that Rodgers retires before the 2026 season.

After signing with the Steelers this offseason, Rodgers explained to Pat McAfee that he signed a one-year deal, believing that this would be his last season in the NFL.

“Yeah, I’m pretty sure this is it,” Rodgers said about 2025 being his last season via The Pat McAfee Show. “That’s why we just did a one-year deal. Steelers didn’t need to put any extra years on that or anything. This was really about finishing with a lot of love and fun and peace for the career that I’ve had. I mean, I’ve played freaking 20 years, you know? It’s been a long run, and I’ve enjoyed it. What better to place to finish than in one of the cornerstone franchises of the NFL with Mike Tomlin and a great group of leadership and great guys and a city that expects you to win.”

Rodgers added, “But while I’m in it, and for this year, I’m going to give the Steelers everything that I got and empty the tank and be super comfortable and satisfied with whatever happens.”

Rodgers can’t hurt his legacy this year. The four-time MVP and one-time Super Bowl champion will earn a gold jacket in his first year of eligibility for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

While he can’t ruin his legacy, Rodgers can certainly add to it with his performance this year. After losing to the Buffalo Bills at the end of November, the Steelers fell to 6-6 and found themselves in a battle for the AFC North with the Baltimore Ravens.

Three weeks later, the Steelers are 9-6 and on the verge of the postseason.

Rodgers has not been at an MVP level. He has certainly played better than advertised. The 42-year-old has thrown for 2,860 yards, 23 touchdowns, and seven interceptions.

Would Rodgers Return for the 2026 season?

Heading into Week 17, the Steelers have a 92% chance of making the postseason.

The Steelers will win the AFC North if they defeat the Cleveland Browns or the Baltimore Ravens lose to the Green Bay Packers.

If the Steelers win the AFC North, they will host a postseason game. Win or lose, Rodgers did his job by getting Pittsburgh to the playoffs.

Would he ever consider returning for the 2026 season? Rodgers has not hinted at his future right now, but those questions will amplify once the Steelers’ season ends.

Rodgers certainly has the talent to play; it will come down to his will to continue.
