When the transfer portal opens on Friday, many teams will be fighting for Sorsby’s services.
The former Cincinnati quarterback began his collegiate career in 2022 at Indiana before Curt Cignetti arrived on campus. After only playing in one game his freshman year, Sorsby started seven games (1-6) in 2023.
Sorsby threw for 1,587 yards, 15 touchdowns, and five interceptions. As a runner, Sorsby accumulated 276 rushing yards and four touchdowns.
The following season, Sorsby transferred to Cincinnati, where he has started the last two seasons.
Sorsby passed for 5,613 yards, 45 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions in two seasons with the Bearcats. Sorsby also ran for 1,027 yards and 18 touchdowns.
Sorsby has one year of eligibility remaining.
Right now, Sorsby is the top quarterback in the portal. Oregon’s Dante Moore and Alabama’s Ty Simpson have not declared for the NFL Draft and could return to their respective schools or enter the portal.
Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss could also enter the portal as he awaits the NCAA’s decision on his waiver request for a sixth collegiate season.
3 Teams Who Could Land Cincy QB

LSU
There’s a new sheriff at LSU, and his name is Lane Kiffin.
The former Ole Miss head coach left Oxford for Baton Rouge last month.
Kiffin is one of the best offensive minds in the sport and knows how to develop quarterback talent. His two most recent success stories are Jaxson Dart, who starts for the New York Giants, and Chambliss, who has Ole Miss in the College Football Playoff Semifinals.
LSU needs a new quarterback because Garrett Nussmeier is going to the NFL.
If Kiffin cannot wait for the NCAA to rule on Chambliss, landing Sorsby would be the next best option.
Texas Tech
Texas Tech had a dream season in 2025. The Red Raiders finished the regular season at 12-1, highlighted by a victory over BYU in the Big 12 Championship Game.
Unfortunately for Texas Tech, their season ended on New Year’s Day in a 23-0 loss to the Oregon Ducks in the CFP quarterfinals.
The Red Raiders’ offense only managed 215 yards of total offense.
Texas Tech is not afraid of money, having spent an estimated $28 million on the 2025 roster. That financial commitment paid off with a CFP appearance.
Signing Sorsby could help ensure that next year’s Texas Tech team is right back in the playoff mix.
Miami
No team has taken advantage of the portal for the quarterback position more than Miami.
Two seasons ago, Miami landed Cam Ward, who went on to become the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
This year, Carson Beck has the Hurricanes in the College Football Playoff Semifinals.
If Mario Cristobal can land Sorsby, Miami will be set up for success in 2026.
