The 2026 Australian Open will swing into action next week with qualifying rounds beginning on January 12th and Day 1 of the Main Draw starting on January 18th at Melbourne Park. The Men’s singles final will be held on February 1st and the oddsmakers aren’t giving many players a shot at the first grand slam title of the year.
Reigning champion Jannik Sinner is the odds-on favorite to repeat and defend his crown at -110 while rival and world No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz is not far behind on the board at +165.
Sinner is attempting to become just the second player ever to win three consecutive Australian Open men’s singles titles. 24-time grand slam winner Novak Djokovic accomplished the feat twice, winning three-peat titles from 2011-2013 and 2019-2021.
Meanwhile, Alcaraz is hoping to become the youngest player ever to achieve the career grand slam in the Open Era. If he wins, Alcaraz will be 22 years and 272 days old, surpassing Rafael Nadal’s record of 24 years and 101 days.
Australian Open 2026 Odds
The oddsmakers are predicting that history will more than likely be made at Melbourne Park, as a title run by Sinner, Alcaraz, or Djokovic would each carry historic significance.
Sinner will enter Melbourne Park as an overwhelming favorite to win his third straight men’s singles title. He’s listed at -110 odds, according to BetOnline, while Alcaraz comes in at +165 to complete the career grand slam.
No other player has better than 10-1 odds to win the men’s single title.
Djokovic, who has won the Aussie Open a record 10 times, is next on the board at +1100 odds. At this stage of his career, the sportsbooks are clearly pricing in the physical toll of a two-week grind. Djokovic is the one player in the field with a proven ability to derail Sinner or Alcaraz in Melbourne, and at +1100 odds, should be a live underdog if the draw opens up.
A victory would propel Djokovic to 25 career grand slam wins and allow him to reach 100 Australian Open match wins.
Alexander Zverev (+1300) and Daniil Medvedev (+1800) round out the top five contenders. Meanwhile, Taylor Fritz is the top American player on the board at +2500, despite struggling with serious tendonitis in his knee.
Other notable players include Joao Fonseca (+3300), Alex de Minaur (+4000), Ben Shelton (+4000), Felix Auger Aliassime (+4000), and Holger Rune (+5000).
Ranked No. 5 in the world, Auger-Aliassime arrives in top form and is regarded as a serious threat to carry his late-2025 momentum into Melbourne. He won 24 of his final 31 matches to end last season with 5 of those 7 losses coming at the hands of Sinner or Alcaraz.
On the other hand, de Minaur leading the home charge and will be one of the fan favorites to push deep into the draw.
