NFL Super Bowl LX MVP Odds: Seattle Seahawks WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba Lining Up To Catch Honor

Scrambling to his left, Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold threw toward the sideline during the NFC championship game last Sunday. A desperate third-and-two heave? 

Not with Jaxon Smith-Njigba in the area. The Seahawks wide receiver reached out with one hand, corralled the pass and maintained balance to get both feet inbounds before being pushed out of bounds by defensive back Cobie Durant. 

Smith-Njigba’s latest highlight helped the Seahawks extend their first-quarter lead and eventually run by the Los Angeles Rams, 31-27.  

The quarterbacks deserve the spotlight entering Super Bowl LX. Both Darnold (+125) and New England Patriots’ Drake Maye (+235) earned the top odds to earn the championship game’s MVP honor, according to BetOnline Sportsbook. 

Smith-Njigba (+550) shouldn’t be considered an underdog. With 1,935 receiving yards this season, he could join Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua as the only receivers in league history to amass at least 2,000 yards. He also passed Justin Jefferson for the most receiving yards ever by a player 23 years old or younger.

Seven-time Super Bowl champion-turned-broadcaster Tom Brady explained Smith-Njigba’s elite talent. 

“A lot of WRs, when they run if they’re speeding up or stopping, their shoulder plane will rise or fall,” Brady said during his Fox telecast. “He maintains the same shoulder plane when he runs his route.”
