When the snow and ice finally melt from the quarter-mile asphalt flat oval at Bowman Gray Stadium, the NASCAR Cup Series’ unofficial season-opening event is slated to begin Wednesday night in Winston-Salem, N.C.
With the region receiving a rare 8-10-inch snowfall on Saturday, race officials postponed the event a second time. All on-track activities will be staged Wednesday for the 38 teams on the entry list.
Chase Elliott earned a dominating victory at the iconic local short track last season, winning from the pole after leading 171 of 200 laps. Elliott (+575) received the second-best odds to win Wednesday, according to BetOnline Sportsbook.
Below, we’ll preview the top storylines heading into Wednesday’s Cook Out Clash and go over the odds for the exhibition event.
