Lindsey Vonn

Just when I was thinking that no news was good news on the Lindsey Vonn front, Team USA Alpine Skiing schedules a press conference with Lindsey Vonn on Tuesday, 2/3 at 10 AM EST.

The press conference will be aired on Peacock and is occurring in Cortina, Italy, site of the 2026 Winter Olympics slated to begin in three days.

Lindsey Vonn, 41, has been the comeback story of the alpine skiing season. After retiring in 2019, she successfully recovered from a partial knee replacement surgery on her right knee and made a comeback last year. The 2010 Olymp;ic gold medalist has an excellent track record on the Olympic course, and that was believed to be part of the reason she came back. In December, she won her first World Cup race in seven years.

An Eventful Week For Lindsey Vonn

Last week, in her final race before the Olympics, Vonn crashed. She was airlifted off the course after gingerly walking on her left leg; the left knee is believed to have suffered the injury.

A few days ago, Vonn issued an optimistic statement on social media saying that her Olympic comeback was not over. She also said she would share more when she could. This is apparently that time.

Many rallied behind Vonn wishing her a speedy recovery including former Olympians Michelle Kwan, Simone Biles, Jade Carey, Allyson Felix, and Shaun White, who will be part of the NBC broadcast for the opening ceremony with Terry Gannon and Savannah Guthrie, wrote: “You got this.”

Hopefully that is what Vonn will tell us; that she has it under control and is able to compete.
