Team Canada on Tuesday added Sam Bennett to its 2026 Winter Olympics men’s ice hockey team. The Florida Panthers center will replace Anthony Cirelli.
The Tampa Bay Lightning center suffered a lower-body injury during the Stadium Series game at Raymond James Stadium on Sunday.
Leading the Panthers to their second-straight Stanley Cup title last spring, Bennett earned the Conn Smythe trophy as the playoffs’ MVP. But he was omitted from Team Canada’s initial roster list on Dec. 31.
Team Canada may have another decision to make on another Lightning forward.
Center Brayden Point (lower body) remains sidelined and was not expected to dress for either of the team’s final two Pre-Olympic break outings. Point, who has been out since Jan. 12, returned to practice.
Despite the roster overhaul, Team Canada (+120) remains the sports-betting favorite to capture a Gold Medal, according to DraftKings Sportsbook. Team USA (+175) was tabbed with the second-best odds.
