The Arizona Cardinals trailed by 14 points early in the fourth quarter on Sunday, Nov. 1, and still left AT&T Stadium with a Week 8 win. Gardner Minshew threw three touchdown passes, all in the second half, and Michael Wilson’s 13-yard catch with six seconds left in regulation forced overtime.

Ryland settled it from 42 yards with 2:53 remaining in the extra period. Arizona outgained Dallas 467 total yards to 261.

Mitchell, Flournoy and Prescott build Dallas leads

Dallas scored first without the offense. James Mitchell recovered a fumble for a touchdown at 2:33 of the first quarter, and Brandon Aubrey added the extra point.

Dak Prescott found Ryan Flournoy for a 9-yard score at 5:16 of the second quarter to make it 14-0. Ryland’s 37-yard field goal at 1:13 put Arizona on the board before halftime.

The Cowboys held 14-point leads at 14-0, 17-3 and 24-10. Aubrey’s 31-yard field goal in the third quarter produced the second of those. Prescott’s 5-yard run at 14:20 of the fourth delivered the third.

Allgeier and Minshew drive the Arizona comeback

Tyler Allgeier changed the game’s shape. His 63-yard touchdown run at 0:57 of the third quarter cut the gap to 17-10, and he caught a 5-yard pass from Minshew at 10:47 of the fourth to make it 24-17.

Aubrey answered twice. His 35-yard field goal at 3:54 restored a two-score cushion, and after Trey McBride’s 14-yard touchdown catch at 2:11 made it 27-24, the kicker hit from 41 yards at 1:09.

That left Arizona needing a touchdown. Wilson provided it, but Ryland’s extra point failed, and the teams went to overtime level at 30. Aubrey finished with three field goals.

The Cardinals ran for 202 yards on 27 carries, while Dallas managed 93 yards on 39 attempts. Arizona’s passing game produced 265 yards on 27 of 46.

Dallas did not turn the ball over. Arizona did twice. The Cardinals also committed 9 penalties for 77 yards and allowed 5 sacks for 42 yards, while the Cowboys gave up 4 sacks for 27 yards. Dallas converted 6 of 16 third downs, Arizona 8 of 18.

Colts and Seahawks next on Nov. 8

Dallas entered the day 3-4 and second in the NFC East, coming off a 38-21 win at Philadelphia. Arizona came in 2-5 and fourth in the NFC West after a 30-16 home loss to Denver. The win is the Cardinals’ second in three games, following their 18-16 victory over the Rams on Oct. 18.

Both teams travel next Sunday. The Cowboys visit the Indianapolis Colts and the Cardinals go to Seattle on Sunday, Nov. 8.
