PLAYERS Championship Prize Money Has Increased 20% Since 2022
At the PLAYERS Championship, golfers are simply playing for more than at other events. The tournament has historically offered significant payouts, which has helped make it one of the premiere events on the PGA Tour schedule. In 2025, the PLAYERS Championship is giving away $25 million in prize money, up 20% since 2022.
Scheffler has won the tournament in each of the last two years, taking home a whopping $9 million in prize money from the PLAYERS Championship alone.
Even without earning a dime in this year’s tournament, Scheffler already sits atop the all-time PLAYERS Championship money list with $9,046,200 in career earnings at the event, 53% more than the next-highest player (Sergio Garcia, ($5,948,528).
Scheffler entered TPC Sawgrass with a chance to etch his name in the record books by becoming the first player ever to three-peat the event.
While it wouldn’t be wise to count out Scheffler, history will not be on his side in Ponte Vedra this weekend. There have only been six three-peats since 2000, and four of those belong to Tiger Woods.
No golfer has completed a three-peat at a PGA Tour event since Steve Stricker won the 2011 John Deere Classic and no one has ever won three straight tournaments at TPC Sawgrass. In fact, Scheffler is the only player who has won back-to-back tournaments there.
