5 Largest Contracts Handed Out During 2025 NFL Free Agency

We have reached the first weekend of the NFL free agency period, and there have been a whirlwind of activity and deals handed out during the first five days of action. Which contracts are the largest that were signed this past week?
Five Largest Contracts Of The 2025 NFL Free Agency Period
We take a look at the five richest deals that have been handed out so far, based on total value:
1. Milton Williams (DT) – New England Patriots
Contract Details: 4 years, $104 million
Williams was one of the bigger names in all of free agency this year. He spent his first four years as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles, and capped off his time with the team by being a major contributor in their run to a Super Bowl victory. He racked up five sacks during the 2024 regular season to go along with 24 combined tackles, but truly made his mark during the biggest game of the season.
Against the Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX, Williams was able to sack Patrick Mahomes twice, and had two tackles for loss. He also notched both a forced fumble and a fumble recovery in the game as well. As a reward, the Patriots gave him the largest contract handed out thus far in free agency, and only one of two worth over $100 million. In terms of annual value, it is second on the list behind Sam Darnold’s deal.
2. Sam Darnold (QB) – Seattle Seahawks
Contract Details: 3 years, $100.5 million
Darnold was the best available quarterback during free agency. He spent the 2024 NFL season having a career resurgence, as he helped lead the Vikings to a 14-3 record and second place finish in the NFC. But Minnesota chose not to bring him back, opting instead to go with last year’s rookie JJ McCarthy, who was on track to be the starter before an injury that led to Darnold taking the reins.
The Seahawks were something of a surprise destination, at least based on initial projections. They became QB-needy when they traded Geno Smith to the Raiders, and turned around and signed Darnold to a 3-year deal worth just over $33 million per year. It is the highest annual value of any contract given out during free agency, and ties him to Seattle through the 2027 season.

3.Will Fries (G) – Minnesota Vikings
Contract Details: 5 years, $87.72 million
Fries began his NFL career with little fanfare, having been drafted in the 7th round of the 2021 Draft. He spent his first four years in the league with the Indianapolis Colts, and became a full-time starter during the 2023 campaign. He kept that starting job into 2024, but was only able to play in five games last year before suffering a fractured right tibia.
But he was still able to lock down a big contract in free agency. With the money that they saved by letting Darnold go, the Vikings signed Fries to the longest contract that has been handed out thus far, the only five-year deal given to any player. The annual value of his new agreement doesn’t rank in the top-10, but in terms of overall value, it is the third richest that has been signed so far.
4. Dan Moore (T) – Tennessee Titans
Contract Details: 4 years, $82 million
Upon being selected in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft, Moore became one of the more consistent pieces of the Steelers offense, at least in terms of availability. He became a full-time starter immediately, and has missed just two games in his four-year career thus far. He manned the most important position on the offensive line, playing left tackle, and kept his spot coming into last season despite Pittsburgh drafting his potential replacement.
Moore had a rough finish to the 2024 season, though, as he wound up allowing more sacks (12) than any other player in the NFL. Still, the Titans chose him to be one of their biggest off-season pickups, and are hoping that he’ll protect the blind side of whatever quarterback they choose to plug in.

5, Aaron Banks (G) – Green Bay Packers
Contract Details: 4 years, $77 million
One of the players that was included in the mass exodus for the 49ers was Aaron Banks, who was a full-time starter in San Francisco for the last three years. He had the best season of his career in 2024 in terms of both pass block and run block win rate, and hit free agency as one of the top offensive line options on the open market.
The Packers were the team that Banks chose to sign with, at a value of just under $20 million per season. Green Bay will have to do some positional shuffling to fit him in, but he’ll be an important piece in keeping quarterback Jordan Love upright in 2025 and beyond.
