After an intense training camp battle, the Indianapolis Colts will start quarterback Daniel Jones over Anthony Richardson. The Colts have not indicated that they will move Richardson. However, the No. 4 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft will not be on the team next season if he doesn’t play in 2025. Which NFL teams should trade for Richardson? Here are three potential landing spots for the Colts quarterback.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are a model of consistency.
Head coach Mike Tomlin has coached the Steelers to a .500 record or better since 2007.
Pittsburgh has made the postseason in four of the last five seasons, and they did it with inconsistent quarterback play. After Ben Roethlisberger’s retirement, Tomlin has won games without Kenny Pickett, Mason Rudolph, Mitchell Trubisky, Russell Wilson, and Justin Fields.
In 2025, Aaron Rodgers will start for the Steelers. The 41-year-old quarterback has hinted that this will be his last season.
The Steelers will most likely need a new quarterback in 2026. Pittsburgh is too talented to be at the top of the draft. They’re usually stuck picking in the late teens or 20s in the NFL Draft.
Why not trade a middle-round pick on Richardson and let him fight for the job next season? If they make the trade this year, Richardson would then get to learn under Rodgers for one season.
Trading for Richardson is a low-risk, high-reward deal.

Sean McVay’s offense is all about movement and timing.
As one of the most athletic runners in the NFL, Richardson could thrive in a McVay offensive scheme that prioritizes play action and down-the-field passing.
However, Richardson must work on his timing. A 47% completion percentage will not get it done in McVay’s offense, let alone the NFL.
Matthew Stafford is the quarterback for 2025 and probably 2026. However, the 37-year-old is dealing with a back injury.
Right now, Jimmy Garoppolo is the backup. Garoppolo is a solid backup quarterback, but he is not the future. Plus, defenses do not have to game-plan for Garoppolo.
If Richardson is under center for the Rams, defenses would have to respect his legs. If there’s any coordinator who knows how to find weaknesses on a defense, it’s McVay.
Baltimore Ravens

There is no quarterback controversy in Baltimore.
The Ravens’ No. 1 quarterback is two-time MVP Lamar Jackson.
However, the backup position is vital to Baltimore’s operation.
Because of Jackson’s rushing ability, he puts himself in danger of taking big hits.
Baltimore’s current backup is Cooper Rush, who plays nothing like Jackson. If Baltimore does not want to change most of its offensive scheme when Jackson is out, Richardson as a backup makes more sense than Rush.
Again, Richardson is not playing over Jackson. However, Richardson could play the role Tyler Huntley played as Jackson’s backup a few seasons ago.
