Caleb Holt has long been one of Auburn Basketball’s long-term recruiting targets. Auburn were the five-star wing’s first high-major offer back in April 2022 and will continue to pursue Holt until his eventual commitment. The Loganville, Georgia native thrived for the USA’s gold-medal-winning FIBA U19 World Cup team, which should help to heat up his recruitment even more.

Holt will transfer to Prolific Prep for his final high school season, carrying momentum from a stellar FIBA showing. The youngest player on the American squad averaged 10 points. 3.4 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game while leading the tournament in steals per 40 minutes (6.5). He excelled in a complementary role next to talented teammates, bringing energy, disruptive defense and efficient offense off the bench.

Bruce Pearl will appreciate Holt’s malleability on the court, allowing him to add value in multiple roles. He’s coming off a strong start to his final AAU season as the lead creator for Game Elite’s Adidas 3SSB 17u squad. In seven AAU games so far this season, Holt averaged 22 points (61.8% true shooting), 2.7 assists (1.5 assist-to-turnover ratio), 7.9 rebounds and 2.6 steals per game.

How has Holt improved on offense?

Holt played up an age group with Game Elite’s 17u squad last summer and has improved significantly since then. He’s increased his scoring volume (17.8), ball security (0.8 assist-to-turnover ratio) and efficiency (54.8% true shooting) significantly from 2024.

With his Game Elite squad, Holt spends much of his offensive time creating on the ball. He’s improved his ball control and shotmaking touch, especially in the intermediate. While Holt is still a developing outside shooter, his mid-range touch projects favorably down the line for 3-point shooting growth.

At his ultimate ceiling, Holt could develop into a true on-ball creator. His physical tools, touch and size are all positive indicators, though he has plenty of room to progress as a shooter and decision maker. Early on in his college career, though, Holt will likely spend significant chunks of time off of the ball. Pearl will turn to his FIBA sample for that, believing in the young guard to add value as a cutter, spot shooter and elite defensive player.

On3’s crystal ball projects Auburn as Holt’s most likely future college team, giving them a 14% lead over second-place Alabama. It’s nearly impossible to project what Auburn’s roster will look like for the 2026-27 season due to the volatility of college basketball teams. Still, it would make sense for Holt to target a proven winning program with plenty of players in the NBA pipeline.
