Bears vs. Raiders Odds and Predictions

The marriage between Caleb Williams and Ben Johnson started rocky, but Week 3’s performance was encouraging.

Williams played his best game as a pro — 19 of 28 for 298 yards and four touchdowns in the Bears’ 31-14 victory over the Dallas Cowboys. Williams’ passing touchdown total on the year is 7, which is second in the NFL.

When Williams doesn’t face significant pressure, he’s an effective quarterback. Coming into the game, Williams had been sacked 74 times in 19 games. The Bears did not allow a sack against the Cowboys.

While the Bears thrived, the Raiders died. Las Vegas allowed Marcus Mariota and the Commanders to accumulate 400 yards of total offense in Washington’s 41-24 victory.

So far, the returns of Ashton Jeanty have been disappointing — 47 carries for 144 yards and one touchdown. 3.1 yards per carry ranks 131st in the NFL.

Quarterback Geno Smith threw for three touchdowns and zero interceptions. However, the game was out of hand in the fourth quarter.

This game comes down to the Bears’ offensive line against the Raiders’ defensive front. Look at Giants quarterback Russell Wilson, who threw for 450 yards against the Cowboys. Two weeks later, he’s been benched for Jaxson Dart.

Williams is not getting benched, but there’s something to be said for inflated stats against the Cowboys’ defense. Raiders edge rusher Maxx Crosby is better than anyone on the Cowboys’ defense.

The game should be close, but I expect Williams to come back to Earth against a better defense. I’ll take the Raiders in a close victory.

Pick: Raiders PK (-110)

Bears vs. Raiders Prop

Again, I’m expecting Williams to come back to the middle against the Raiders.

For as well as Williams played against the Cowboys, he only completed 19 passes. The most completions by Williams this season are 21 in Week 1’s loss to the Minnesota Vikings.

Drake Maye is the only quarterback to complete more than 22 passes against the Raiders this season. I think that trend continues against Williams.

Pick: Caleb Williams Under 21.5 (-110)
